3 Things to Know Before TradingAtlanta, GA 6/4/12 (StreetBeat) -- Stocks were quite weak in Asian trade. Shanghai fell two and three quarters percent, the Hang Seng and Australia were both down two percent, while the Nikkei was off 1.7%. European indexes are mixed this morning, with the Dax and Footsie both down about one percent, but Spain is higher by more than two percent. US stock futures are up a slight fraction as I write.

*German Chancellor Merkel and European Commission Barroso are meeting in Berlin. They are supposed to make a joint statement concerning their meeting at noon CDT. A spokesman for Germany notes that they are still opposed to the idea of euro bonds and the joint statement is not about euro bonds.

*The April reading of Factory Orders is due out at 9:00am CDT; it is expected to be +0.2% on the month.

*The Fed is scheduled to buy Treasuries today that are due to mature between 6/30/18 and 5/15/20; the results of the operation will be announced just after 10:00am CDT.
