LargeCap Stocks to Watch TodayTelecom giant AT&T was rising 2.9% to $28.75 after it said it will purchase T-Mobile USA from Germany's Deutsche Telekom in a deal valued at about $39 billion.

Shares of Jeweler and specialty retailer Tiffany were popping 4.7% to $60 after reporting fourth-quarter net earnings from continuing operations of $1.41 a share and $1.44 a share excluding items, compared with the consensus estimate of $1.39 a share.

Electronics company Sony was rising 2.7% to $32.40 as it began restarting production in Japan after the country was hit by a massive earthquake.

Goldman Sachs was rising 1.2% to $161.90 after Bloomberg reported that conglomerate holding company Berkshire Hathaway raked in about $3.7 billion from its $5 billion investment in the financial services company.

Onshore seismic data services provider Dawson Geophysical Company said it will acquire peer TGC Industries in a transaction valued at about $157 million, representing about $8 a TGC share. TGC shareholders will receive 0.188 a share of Dawson stock for every share of TGC stock. The combined company will retain the Dawson name and trading symbol.

Boeing said its new 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft has completed a successful maiden flight; the third maiden flight for commercial aircrafts in recent months for the aviation giant.

Japanese financial services company Nomura plans to build an equity capital markets desk in Australia, the Wall Street Journal reported.
