Slim Chance Uncounted Ballots Save Prop 19

Just a week after the controversial vote for Proposition 19 failed for the legalization of marijuana in the state of California... Many have not given up hope because of all the uncounted votes.

Though there still remains very little chance Proposition 19 can pass, uncounted ballot totals from all counties are now complete. Currently, uncounted California ballot totals are calculated at 2,342,664. The deficit to overcome Prop 19 is 620,281.

The media reported 46.5% of voters in favor of Proposition 19 against 53.5% of voters opposing the measure.

Already, given the relatively narrow margin, proponents of the bill have declared a commitment to a marijuana legalization initiative on the 2012 ballot. An even closer race could be expected to add further fuel to the fire and perhaps reignite some dimming hopes about the potential financial green rush.

If California’s budget does not improve over the next two years, the likelihood of a 2012 marijuana bill actually passing will continue to grow.
